Hello Fellow WCCC Member:
February Competition Night
Our Next WCCC Competition Night is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, February 21, 2018 beginning at 7:00 PM at Dartmouth Housing Authority Community Room on Anderson Way. The theme is “Open” allowing you to once again choose your own subject and/or technique. Here is an opportunity to demonstrate elements of good photographic composition. When judging images look for the elements we discussed back in December: Foreground, Middle Ground, Back Ground; Simplicity; Rule of Thirds; Leading Lines; a clearly defined Point of Interest. We will have our usual business meeting just prior to the competition. We hope to make it as brief as possible to give the maximum time to judging and critiques.
Rich Castenson, your fellow WCCC member, summarized December’s composition presentation onto a single sheet. He has noted key words that will help to jog your memory when you’re out in the field taking outstanding images. We have attached it once again to this newsletter.
To all our members who assisted with and attended the NECCC Winter Digital Competition: Thank you!!
A special thank you to Vice President Joan-Marie Proulx and her committee who carried out their well-planned assignments flawlessly. The preparations were well done with everything in place and ready to go! Seating, tables, projection equipment, SCREENS, refreshments, Hunt’s display tables, WCCC event signup table, all done with your help!
The event was such a great success for our club and the feedback has been very positive. All the judges were impressed with our event preparations and execution. The most senior judge commented that it was a well-organized and fun night from his perspective.
All our members came together to make this event a wonderful success! Thank you!
March Education Night
Join us on March 7 for an interesting Education Night as Joan-Marie Proulx leads a presentation on “Close-up and Macro Photography.”
Bring your camera to this hands-on workshop to discover the world of Macro and Close-up photography! Joan-Marie will show us how we can explore everyday subjects up close to create images with extraordinary and interesting perspectives. We will learn how to accomplish this with the equipment you already own. Yes! Your point and shot camera will be just fine. To do some great close-up shots, you can use almost any lens. We will learn how to use non-macro lenses to make close-up images and gain an understanding of how a macro lens would be used.
Sorry, no guests for this workshop due to limited working space.
If you have never attended the NECCC summer Conference, you might want to take advantage of their “courtesy enrollment.” When you have a chance, please check out the NECCC website for more information at: neccc.org.
Joan-Marie, Brian and Suzanne have all attended the conference in the past. Please feel free to get some feedback from them about the conference. There is a great deal of information on the NECCC website.
Should we have more than one member interested in taking advantage of the courtesy enrollment, we will toss a coin or pull a name from a hat.
Hunt’s Photo & Video
Our friends at Hunt’s Providence Store continue to be super-supportive of our club. They visited with us as we hosted the NECCC Digital Competition and were a focus of attention during every break in the judging. When you visit, please be sure that you let them know you are a WCCC member and that you appreciate their support of your club!
