Hello Fellow WCCC Member:
Nomination Night Meeting
Our June 6 meeting is our annual Nominations for Officers meeting. The nominating committee will be presenting a slate of officers for membership consideration at that time. If you are interested in serving as an officer of our club, please contact Nina Mach, Barbara Lawrence or Bernadette Costa. You can message them within our Meetup site. Go to the membership page, click on the person’s icon and their page opens, locate the “send a message to . . “ link.
Following the Nominating Committee’s report, there will be an opportunity for you to nominate from the floor members for the officer positions. Please be sure that you have spoken with your nominee to be certain that they are willing to serve.
Should there be any contested positions an election will be held at the annual meeting on June 20.
Attached you will find the May business meeting minutes we will be voting on at Wednesday’s meeting.
WCCC Image of the Year
Our June 6 meeting will also include the selection of our Images of the Year! If you have received a first or second place ribbon during our monthly competitions over this past season, you are eligible to enter the Image of the Year contest.
Members may enter ONLY ONE image in each category (Standard/Expanded). So if you are a multiple ribbon recipient, you must decide which ONE of your images to enter.
The selection process is similar to our monthly competitions. Members will vote for their favorite, however, the results will not be announced until the Annual Meeting on June 21. Please see José Soler for more information. This is a very prestigious award voted by your peers in the Whaling City Camera Club.
Our Annual Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 20 at Anderson Way. Should we have any contested races for Club Officers we will be voting at this meeting. In addition, the Image of the Year winners will be announced. A buffet will be served at the meeting and in this regard your RSVP on our Meetup site is very, very important. We want to be sure we have enough food for those attending.
We ask our members who can, to contribute to the “dessert buffet.” Please see Carole Mahaney so we can have a wide variety of desserts and plan what we need for supplies.
Fishing Heritage Center Exhibition
WCCC members who are participating in the FHC Exhibition can pick up their images on Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Sill a month away but please put it on your calendar!
Annual Member Survey
Attached you will find a copy of this year’s Member Survey. The Board of Directors will use the information provided to plan the activities and speakers for the coming season, 2018-2019. We have simplified your task by using just 6 questions. You can return your completed form via email to Jim Mahaney at firstname.lastname@example.org or you can bring your hard copy to the June 6 or June 20 meeting. Thank you for participating.
It is always important for our members to RSVP our meetings and events on our Meetup page. This information is used for planning purposes and to let our sponsors know that we have great participation from our members. Sponsors like to have an idea of how many photographers are receiving their information when determining how worthwhile their sponsorship with our club can be to them.
Your RSVP is never more important than it is at this time of year and very much so for our annual meeting on June 20. We are planning our buffet along with the other events. The RSVP will help us to determine just how much food we need to order. We try to be frugal with our treasury so please be helpful and RSVP. Thanks.
We are very fortunate as a club to have so many of our members getting involved with our activities. I’m sure we all know that when you have many helping hands, the task is so much easier for all involved. Please consider helping in that regard by assisting with the many functions of your camera club. I’m sure you can find a club effort that could use your special talents. Talk with the committee chairperson for more information on each committee.
We have four standing committees in our club; Membership & Hospitality (Judy St. Pierre), Exhibitions & Contests (José Soler), Programs & Education (Brian Santerre) and Publicity & Website (Sally Erickson.)
Keep an eye on our Meetup page for interesting photo ops and field trips you might like to take part in. We would like to have some field trips over the summer months to provide both photo opportunities and a reason to get together in warm weather.
